The 2006 Tiburon was the last year of the 2nd generation GK fascia for the American market, when they got a more sleek, streamlined face lift for the following years.

With the same 2 engine options, the Inline 4 2.0 liter Beta, for the V6 2.7 liter Delta and 3 transmission options, the Beta equipped base and GS only came with an Automatic or 5 speed manual, where as the V6 options in the GT and SE models, featured Automatic or 6 speed manual transmissions. All trims were Naturally Aspirated in the U.S. Market.

South-European models, due to taxes on high displacement vehicles, featured a 1.6 liter turbocharged engine, however only boasting around the same power output (~145 horsepower) as the 2.0 liter Beta engine.

The European market did not see a face lift, after 2006, instead keeping the same body style until the discontinuation of the Tiburon.

The 2.7 liter aluminum Delta V6, featured ~176 horsepower and ~181 lb. ft. of torque, to the crank, taking it from 0-60 in ~7 seconds and 1/4 mile in 15.4 seconds
